When the announcement was made that the home for disabled people at Holehird was going to be closed, a group of concerned individuals came together and set up a new charity to take over and run the Home when the current operator leaves.

Residents do not want to leave Holehird. It is their home, and the local community would like them to be able to stay. Fortunately the house was given for the benefit of the community, preferably to be used in caring for the chronically sick and infirm. So its continued role as a care home for the disabled fits this purpose well.

Support from the community of Windermere has always been strong, and will always be there, continuing the history of Holehird, not only for those residents who have seen it as home for over forty years, but for new residents who are in need of somewhere that encourages and inspires them.
