I came to holehird in 1963 from a children’s hospital where I’d been for the
nine years previous. The Children’s Hospital had a quick turnover of both staff
and residents, and despite being there for nine years,I didn’t really know
anybody well at all

I was sixteen then, two years too young really, but they made an exception
otherwise I’d have had to go into an old people’s home in those days.

Holehird really is where I’ve been able to grow up. It’s where for the first time
I’ve had long term relationships with people.

It’s difficult to put into words really what Holehird means to me as it’s been
so fundamental. I have roots here that go down for evermore now, lots
of friends in the community, third generation some of them now.

I’ve had more independence here because I’ve been ableto work in the office
four days a week over twelve years,
